AWARDS FOR ATTENDANCE & ACHIEVEMENTS
We want to recognize and reward achievement and progress for each child whether it is in the areas of good sportsmanship, passing sections, winning as a team, good behavior, etc. Praise, affirmation and recognition go a long way towards motivating and reinforcing good behavior, effort and achievement. Every child will work at his own pace and be recognized for his many accomplishments. Special awards will be given out to each clubber who passes various sections in his or her handbook. These awards are usually displayed on a child’s vest or shirt.
Bible & Handbooks
A clubber may only start saying and getting credit for sections in his handbook once he has completed his entrance booklet (Start Zone, Flight 3:16, or Bear Hug). Encouraging each child to work through his personal handbook is the strength of the AWANA program. It gets the kids into God’s Word and encourages parents to get involved in their children’s spiritual growth. In the handbook, the children will learn Bible verses, books of the Bible, truths about God, principles for living the Christian life, and character traits such as obedience and kindness. Each child is to bring his/her handbook to club each Wednesday (along with his Bible) even if he doesn’t have a section completed and ready to “pass”. If a handbook has been misplaced, a clubber will need to purchase another one.
Clubbers are given awards for regular attendance in club and Sunday School.
4 - Club attendance awards - the club year is divided into 4 quarters, one un-excused absence is allowed per quarter (excused = sickness, vacation)
2- Sunday School attendance awards - the club year is divided into 2 halves, two un-excused absences are allowed per half (whatever Sunday School or Children’s Church your child normally attends - it does not have to be Marshall Baptist Church).
Ribbons, plaques, and trophies are given for the completion of one or more handbooks. Each child is allowed to work at his/her own pace and will be guided and helped by a caring leader. To complete a handbook in one year, you child should have 2-3 sections/units ready or completed when attending each club meeting. These awards can be worn or displayed proudly. They represent good achievement & spiritual growth in the knowledge & understanding of God and His Word.
